Gina Funicelli

Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

Gina is the Director of the Industry Liaison Office (ILO) at Saint Mary’s University, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She established the ILO in 2005 and is responsible for initiating strategic opportunities to support the commercialization of research. Prior to joining Saint Mary’s, Gina worked in the private sector for over 15 years where she performed several senior roles in the Geographic Information Systems technology sector.

Gina has an adventurous spirit and derives great satisfaction from contributing to new, complex and innovative ideas. When she met Usha through a mutual friend, she found a kindred spirit in the belief that “untapped” research should be further developed to help communities around the world. Gina feels privileged to join CARTHA’s Council of Advisors and hopes to add value to the team through her unique experiences working in the private, non-profit and academic sector. She enjoys triathlon racing, cultural events and is fluent in French.
