LisaLisa Spellman serves as Vice President of Marketing & Communications for CARTHA. She is also the founder and president of the Rapid Creek Group LLC, a management consulting firm that offers services in strategic planning, strategic alliances development, change management, marketing, and legislative affairs.

Lisa is one of those eclectic individuals difficult to categorize in a specific area of expertise, which is why she is attracted to CARTHA. Management consulting and associations with organizations such as CARTHA are a great fit for Lisa because it provides the flexibility to work with people, projects and geographies that are widely diverse and yet more connected than may seem obvious at first glance.

Her 20+ years of experience includes projects as diverse as leading a large PeopleSoft (specialized enterprise software) consulting project in Toowoomba Australia, serving as a freelance operations director for a language school based in Spain, leading several marketing & IT change management engagements for boutique consulting firms with projects in London, France, and Amsterdam with clients that included John Deere Healthcare, Covisint, Trade ranger, Royal Dutch Shell, University of Southern Queensland, eMPACT Health, and General Motors.

Lisa has led marketing planning engagements for clients that included a Big Ten University and a leading college of law. As if leading engagements in IT, change management and marketing were not diverse enough Lisa also did a stint as a senior staff member on a presidential campaign and worked as a lobbyist for clients on a range of healthcare issues in Washington DC and in several states.

With a strong interest in the power and potential of micro-financing and supporting Fair Trade initiatives, Lisa occasionally fires up a small business specializing in the buying and selling of high-quality items created as a result of micro-financing endeavors with the goal of helping to support such programs grow and prosper.

In between working on interesting projects, Lisa also serves as adjunct faculty at the University of Iowa and St. Ambrose University teaching classes in Marketing, Introduction to Marketing, Ethics in Marketing, and is also an instructor for the Kauffman Foundation series of FastTrac™ courses on entrepreneurship.

Lisa graduated Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Coe College and holds an MBA from St. Ambrose University.

Lisa is active in local and national volunteer activities including serving as Chair of the eHealth Vulnerability Reporting Program (eHVRP) Communications Working Group, is a member of the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) National Government Affairs/Policy Working Group, is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce and is founder of the Chamber Small Business & Education & Entrepreneurial (SEED) Committee.

Lisa lives in Iowa City, Iowa with her husband Mark Trimble, founder of Fitness By Mark™, and an ever-changing number of stray cats and dogs that tend to make their way into their home. When not on the road for business some 60-90% of the time, Lisa enjoys photography, gardening, biking, reading and travel.
