Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom

I was born and grew up in Liverpool, UK. In 1995, I graduated from the University of Liverpool with an honours degree in Biochemistry.

In 1996, I joined the Unit of Ophthalmology, Dept of Clinical Sciences, University of Liverpool, as a research technician and registered to do a PhD in proliferative retinal disease. This involved publication of various research papers and attending international eye conferences.

In 2002, I joined the Beatson Cancer Research Institute in Glasgow, Scotland as a post-doctoral researcher, where I studied the expression of a metastasis suppressor gene in colorectal and breast cancer.

During my time in Glasgow I have become involved in a soup kitchen initiative run by a charity called the Glasgow Simon Community, which aims to re-house people who are experiencing homelessness.

I am currently employed in the department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences, Glasgow Caledonian University, where I am working with Professor Chris Hillier as a Knowledge Transfer Fellow.
