Julie Tan

Julie Tan is a Senior Advisor for intellectual property and technology transfer at Health Canada in Ottawa. Since 2001, she has been keenly interested in the facilitation of technology transfer issues among government, university, and private sector R&D partners to enhance innovation systems. As a result of her membership on a committee of the Licensing Executives Society (LES), Julie began her interactions with Usha Balakrishnan (CARTHA Founder) in 2005. As a volunteer participant in the Technology Managers for Global Health program, Julie played a critical role in the organization of the first-ever full-day panel on global health partnerships at the LES annual meeting in 2005.

Julie earned her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Ottawa in 1999 after which she became a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the National Research Council of Canada. She also received her Masters in Engineering Sciences from the University of Western Ontario and her Bachelors in Science/Engineering from the University of New Brunswick.
